Our philosophy for Grade RR and Grade R
Laying an unshakable foundation
At Sunward Christian Academy, we believe that the early years lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Through purposeful play, caring guidance and Christian values, we nurture every part of a child’s development — academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Christian values are at the heart of our school. In a caring, loving environment, children learn to show kindness, practise respect and care for others. We want each child to feel valued, supported and confident enough to try something new.
Our learner-centred approach makes learning an active adventure. Through multisensory experiences, children explore ideas by seeing, listening, touching, moving and doing.
Stories, songs, textures, games and hands-on activities bring learning to life, giving little minds plenty of opportunities to ask, explore and discover.
Behind every carefully planned activity is an opportunity to grow. Children practise language, early number skills, coordination, concentration and creative thinking while enjoying the discoveries of childhood.
We encourage them to ask questions, solve problems and keep trying — building confidence one small success at a time.
Children grow and learn at different paces. We meet them with encouragement, recognise their individual strengths and guide them towards their next step — helping them build confidence, independence and a love of learning.
Our age-appropriate learning programme follows CAPS with IEB principles, with English Home Language, Mathematics and Life Skills, enriched by Bible teaching and Robotics.
Afrikaans is not part of the formal curriculum, but we introduce it in class to build a foundation for Grade 1.
Alongside these foundations, we nurture independence, communication and cooperation — helping children learn to express their ideas, manage their feelings and work with others.

At SCA, each child matters. Therefore, SCA ensures that learners are given individual attention & care.
As one of the most affordable private IEB schools in South Africa, we are proud of our 25 year 100% Grade 12 pass rate.
SCA’s Christian Values form learners into kind, upright and capable individuals.

Choosing a school for your child can be a daunting task. Most parents want a safe environment where their children can get a quality education without compromising on values. Schools with those characteristics are not easy to find. That's why Sunward Christian Academy was established in 2000.
26 years later we are very proud to be deemed as one of the most affordable private IEB schools in South Africa. We are passionate about our small classroom environments where each child receives the individual care necessary from our fully qualified SACE registered teachers. Each member of the SCA team believes that they were called to education.
However, the largest factor in the success SCA has had in developing young minds is our Christian Values. We deem our Faith as the foundation of everything we do at SCA. We focus on instilling those values into every learner that passes through SCA.
We pray that your child finds the school he/she is meant to be in and we would be honoured for SCA to be among the schools you consider.
